On Wednesday, November 1, the United Nations General Assembly will again vote to oppose the U.S. government's economic and political war against Cuba as it has every year since 1992.

In 2016 the vote was 191-0 with two abstentions with the United States, in the final days of the Obama administration, abstaining.

The Trump administration has returned to a more hostile stance toward Cuba, including promises to further restrict US travel to the island that had been loosened under Obama and the recent expulsion of Cuban diplomats from Washington. It is expected that President Trump will instruct the US UN ambassador to return the US vote to no.

To protest that US vote and the continuing US embargo and blockade against Cuba, the Minnesota Cuba Committee is holding a picket line on Wednesday, November 1 at 4:30 PM in front of the US Federal Courthouse in Minneapolis at 4th Street and 3rd Avenue South. The protest is being held in solidarity with a demonstration in New York City at UN headquarters and in major cities around the world.
